Here at the Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast we like to see what new recipes we can find, bake and serve.  I will share a yummy one with you that everyone will like.

BIG OATMEAL RAISIN CHEWS
These big, soft, chewy cookies are just delicious.

Ingredients
2 1/4 cups old-fashioned oats (do not use instant or quick oats)
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground allspice
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temp.
1 cup sugar
1 cup (packed) dark brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups raisins

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Have cookies sheets prepared.

Mix first 6 ingredients in medium bowl.  Using electric mixer, beat butter and both sugars in large bowl until well blended, about 1 minute.  Add eggs and vanilla; beat until well blended, about 1 minute.  On low speed, beat in dry ingredients just until blended (do not over beat). Stir in raisins.

Drop batter by 1/4 cupfuls onto prepared sheets, spacing evenly apart and forming 6 mounds per sheet.  Bake until cookies are pale golden brown, about 15 minutes.  Cool cookies on sheets for 5 minutes.  Using metal spatula, transfer cookies to rack and cool completely.

Serve, Eat and Enjoy
Hint: serve with vanilla ice cream

6. Look—no, gaze—into each other’s eyes more often.

7. Write him a little love note. Insert it into the book he’s reading.

Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast, Sparta WI, Thanking Guests with Shaklees

Here at the Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast in Sparta, WI we are always very concerned about our guests and our enivorment.  Starting in 2012 we are "Thanking Our Guests" with a Sample Capsule of Shaklee Basic H2 Cleaner for them to take home and try for their own use.  We use only Shaklee products for All our cleaning needs at the bed and breakfast. We truly believe in this product for the health of our guests, to the cleanliness of our B&B.

"Inside this tiny capsule is enough power to make a whole bottle of all-purpose super cleaner and another whole bottle of glass cleaner..."
Each little vial holds enough Basic H2 to make two bottles of powerful cleaner when diluted in 16 ounces of water. Great for introducing new prospects to the cleaning power of Basic H2.  First, mix 2 drops to 16 oz. of water in a Get Clean Spray Bottle for cleaning windows and mirrors. Then, mix 1/4 tsp. to 16 oz. of water in a Get Clean Spray Bottle for all-purpose cleaning.
So, here is my overall take on the Shaklee Basic H2 Cleaner:

  • Do I think the product works? Yup!
  • Are they healthier and more environmentally friendly ? Yup!
  • Is the Shaklee Basic H2 Cleaner expensive? NO! At first look, you might think at $12 for a 16 oz. bottle of the Basic H2 Cleaner, that is expensive. However, if I tell you how much of that little .07 fl. oz sample vial I used you will see that $12 for a 16 oz. bottle is a deal compared to the cost of buying average cleaner...
  • And, I don’t even want to think about all that plastic that goes into the landfill if you don't use Shaklee products!
A better you, better health, a better world. It's not just possible. It's happening—again and again—every day.
If you would like to read more and Shaklee in the News here is read more....http://www.shaklee.com/news_coverage.shtml

October Is National Cranberry Month In Wisconsin

Did You Know? October Is National Cranberry Month and Wisconsin is the Number #1 Producing  State

Today I went to Warrens, Wisconsin for my first visit and Yes it is a very small town of about 350 people. But, at this time of the year the buzz is all about Cranberry Bog Harvest time.
My first stop was to visit the Cranberry  Discover Center where I have heard they have a museum and "Everything Cranberries" from salsa to ice cream. So, yes I had a Cranberry Delight ice cream cone and bought many other food items to try and serve to my guests.  I was greeted by three wonderful ladies and they were very helpful.  Then I went down stairs to the Cranberry Museum for a short video and walked thru the area of all the wonderful history and exhibits.  I learned alot about Warrens, WI and Cranberries.  Do you know how many food items there are with Cranberries in them?  I do and you can to when you visit the Cranberry Discover Center.  I then stopped by the head quarters for "Warrens Cranberry Festival" which feature over three miles of shopping and over 1,300 booths.  It is always the last full weekend in September. It is a must to add to "Your Bucket list".  cranfest@cranfest.com or call 608-378-4200.

I had a fun fill morning and I am glad to have had the time to go see for myself so I can share with all of you.

Go check it out.....I leave you with some Cranberry Facts.
  • The first cranberry marshes in Wisconsin date to the 1830s, before it was even a state.
  • On April 5, 2004, Governor Doyle signed a bill naming the cranberry Wisconsin's state fruit.
  • The cranberry has a large impact on Wisconsin's economy during healthy conditions. Wisconsin's top fruit crop provides about 7,200 jobs and contributes approximately $330 million to the state's economy.

Web Designer thanks Steve Jobs and Apple Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast icon

Through the years, Apple's innovations have made technology easier and more enjoyable to use. In that spirit, we've created a new home screen icon for our iPhone & iPad users giving quick and clear access to our mobile website application. By default, creating a home screen bookmark of any website leaves a generic icon on your iOS device that is often hard to read and lacking the clean design found on typical application icons. We've created this new custom icon so that our mobile website is at home among a bevy of iOS applications.

To load this icon on your iPhone or iPad, simply head to m.franklinvictorianbb.com, click on the arrow on the bottom of your screen and tap 'Add to Home Screen'.
